Lawrence. Famously, the trial prosecution wereyridiculedjfor being omut of touch with the rest of the country after their statement that it was not a book "you would wish your wife or servants to read".

James WILTON alias Charles WHARTON
On 2nd June 1887 WILTON was convicted of theft of a bag at Paddington Station and was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment with hard labour. He had previously received 6 months imprisonment for stealing a bag at Euston. He is always respectfully dressed.


William KLINGENDER
On 28th May 1887 KLINGENDER received to 6 months imprisonment with hard labour for stealing a bag at Manchester Victoria Station. He admitted to also being convicted at Birmingham.


Duncan PATON
PATON is an ex soldier and a native of Edinburgh. He is a heavy drinker. His mode of thieving is that he watches passengers laying down luggage on platforms or on trains and steals the same during the owners temporary absence. On 15th January 1906 was convicted of theft of a bag at Edinburgh Waverley Station and received 6 months imprisonment.


Helen NICHOLSON
NICHOLSON was a 43-year-old Charwoman with several previous convictions to her name. On 28th February 1903 she received 6 months imprisonment for theft of a parcel from the ladies waiting room at Edinburgh Waverley Station.


Leslie HINES
HINES was a notorious railway thief. He was fined on 12th July 1904 for travelling on the North East Railway without a ticket and on 28th of the same month was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment with hard labour for theft of a bag at Kings Cross Station.


Margaret LECK
Margaret LECK was a travelling railway thief from Kendal, Westmorland. On 21st December 1904 she stole a trunk at Edinburgh Waverley Station. She was wanted by the North Eastern Railway Police and the London and North Western Railway Police for thefts of luggage.
